Office of Faith Formation Mission Statement

We, the Office of Faith Formation of St. Joseph�s Parish, having answered a call to proclaim God�s love by word and deed, serve and support parish households in their faith journey and development. We strive to reinforce the faith example set at home and to foster an intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ in the heart of every member of our parish community. We aim to provide an environment where the faithful can explore and better understand the Catholic Christian faith and way of life. We hope to facilitate a process by which they can accept the challenge and call of Christ to daily discipleship.

IT�S REGISTRATION TIME!

PLEASE REGISTER YOUR CHILDREN FOR FAITH FORMATION AND SACRAMENT PREPARATION EARLY!

We need your help to plan for a great program next year!

Registration for the 2010-2011 Catechetical Year

OPENS ON Monday, MAY 3rd

RE-REGISTRATION: This year re-registrations are personalized and were mailed to each family in April. The personalized forms will help us verify the accuracy of the information in our database. These forms are NOT available online. If you need another form, please contact our office.

Please re-register before June 6^th in order to avoid the$25.00 fee increase.

FIRST-TIME REGISTRATION/ NEW FAMLIES: You can download and complete this �First-Time Registration Form�. However, families must meet with the Director or Program Coordinator in person during a time noted below or by appointment. Registrations will not be accepted otherwise.

What to bring:

� First-Time registration form (or you can complete it at the office when you come to register.)

� Baptismal Certificate

� Full program fee or minimum deposit of $25.00

*In order to register for Faith Formation a family MUST BE REGISTERED PARISHIONERS.

Parish registration is ongoing. You may do this anytime during regular parish office hours.

IMPORTANT Sacrament Preparation Notice: FIRST COMMUNION: The Archdiocese of Newark requires a minimum of two full consecutive years of general catechesis/Faith Formation/ CCD in order to receive First Communion. CONFIRMATION: In order to receive Confirmation the child is required to attend Faith Formation sessions every year from the time he/she celebrates First Communion until Confirmation. Failing to attend classes in the years after the celebration of First Communion will result in a significant delay in the preparation for Confirmation. Please refer to our parent handbook for details.

Children registering for faith formation classes after October 1^st may be required to select the �Home School Program� Option. In that case, the year may also not meet the Archdiocesan requirement of a FULL catechetical year for sacrament preparation.

Opportunity for service and ministry

� It takes a village to raise a child � Unknown

We need faithful parishioners who are willing to share their time and talent in this ministry. There are a variety of ministry opportunities that vary in time commitment and level of interaction with the children and teens in our programs. Opportunities range from a weekly catechist to occasionally making reminder phone calls.
